Introducing Mrs. Siminski – New 6th Grade English Teacher

Dear 6th grade parents and students,

I am excited to begin a productive and worthwhile year at Walter Reed Middle School. I spent many years in the north Glendale Unified School District area and have taught at Reed before in 2006.Then, I taught at Roy Romer Middle School for several years and even spent a year working in Redlands. Now, I am back and couldn’t be happier. The students, staff and parents at Reed make a wonderful cohesive family that I am looking forward to being a part of once again.

Recently, I have met with my team teacher, Ms Walker and I have also met with the other colleagues from the English department. This is going to be an inspiring year full of activities and enriching learning experiences.

Until we meet, I hope you have a great vacation. I plan on spending mine doing things like, camping with my family at Leo Carrillo State Beach and going to Lake Havasu, AZ. I also love watching my 11 year old daughter compete in horseback riding events.  I must admit I love to read and watch “The Voice” on TV.  You will be receiving a letter in the next few days welcoming you, along with expectations for the summer, a Battle of the Books list and a school supplies request. So, stay tuned!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Siminski

Introducing Mr. Gomez – New 7th & 8th Grade Science Teacher

Hello Parents and Students,

My name is Mr. Gomez and I will be taking over the seventh and eighth grade science classes for the Humanities Academy starting in the fall of 2013.  Here are a few things about myself that I would like to share with everyone.

I grew up in Northridge and attended Cleveland High School.  I earned my Bachelor’s degree and multiple subject teaching credentials at CSUN.  I later earned credentials to teach Science and Health.  I am proud to be a product of the LAUSD system!

After finishing college I was hired at Reed in 2006 and I have been here ever since.  At Reed I have taught 6th and 7th grade math and I have taught all grade levels of science.  Outside of class I am also in charge of our school’s Intramural Sports Programs.

When I am not teaching I enjoy managing, coaching, and umpiring Little League Baseball.  I also enjoy playing board games like chess and Scrabble.

Looking forward to meeting you,

Mr. Gomez

Farewell from Ms. Gold

Thank you to all the wonderful parents in FOHA this year and years past. Your support has been welcomed every year for providing opportunities to the Humanities students that could not have been secured without you.

Teaching the 6th graders has deeply impacted my life. The enthusiasm and work ethic of these students made me passionate to push the envelope and the students delivered. I had fun, learned and laughed – and isn’t that what life is about?!?!
I will miss everyone.

Linda Gold
